Improved pump reduces contamination and increases operator safety
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 28, 2016--
Graco Inc.(NYSE: GGG), a leading manufacturer of fluid handling
equipment, is pleased to announce it has enhanced its Electric
Dyna-Star® pump by combining an auto-fill shut-off feature with an
integrated low-level sensor. The new pump provides a safer, more
streamlined refilling operation that reduces the potential for grease
contamination and downtime without sacrificing features.
Contamination in automatic lubrication systems can degrade performance
of the components and lead to shortened life. In most cases,
contamination is introduced when the lubricant pump is being
refilled. The Electric Dyna-Star pump greatly reduces the chance of
contamination by reducing how often the pump is refilled and improving
the method used to refill the pump.
The Electric Dyna-Star pump offers an integrated low-level sensor that
automatically alerts the operator when lubricant is low, so the pump is
refilled only when it’s needed. In addition, it features a mechanical
auto-fill shut-off, which allows operators to safely refill the pump
with the machine off, reducing overfilling or spilling. All of these
features operate without the need of a follower plate.
“Many automatic lubrication systems today require follower plates,” said
Dan Jensen, Graco’s Lubrication Equipment Division Global Product
Marketing Manager. “In high-vibration, yellow-iron environments, these
follower plates often get stuck and add additional maintenance and
frustration for the operators. Our new Electric Dyna-Star pump lets
operators know precisely when grease is running low, yet no follower
plate is needed. This is a huge advantage for our mining customers.”
The combination of the Electric Dyna-Star pump’s auto-fill shut-off and
low-level sensor with a remote fill manifold provides additional peace
of mind. Operators can do their job more safely by remotely refilling
the pump from the ground, reducing the need to climb on the machine.
This also reduces the potential of spilling or introducing contaminants
into the grease system.
